Vince Leibowitz is a fifth-generation Texan and longtime Texas journalist, historian, and writer.
Vince was born in Tyler and raised in Mineola, graduating from Mineola High School and later Texas A&M University-Commerce in Commerce.
Vince’s primary research focuses are 20th Century Texas History and the history of African Americans in Texas.
His work has appeared in the San Antonio Current, Fort Worth Weekly, Colorado County Citizen, Columbus Banner Press, Tyler Morning Telegraph, Van Zandt News, and more. He most recently served as Managing Editor of The Colorado County Citizen in Columbus, Texas.
Vince was named the 2019 Wilbert Webb Journalist of the Year for the South Texas Press Association, and is the winner of the 2002 Nancy Monson Award for Excellence in Open Government Reporting from the Texas Press Association and Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas.
